Jasper

Our first real stop and final destination after 3 days and 2 nights on the Canadian, was in the town of Jasper, located in the Province of Alberta.  From here we sampled many of the highlights of Jasper National Park.  Featured below are photos from our visits to Maligne Canyon, Athabasca Falls, Maligne Lake, the Columbia Ice Fields and the Athabasca Glacier.  First, here are some views of the Jasper area from the Jasper web site, beginning with the snow-capped Whistler's Mountain.

Here are 3 shots of Maligne Canyon that my camera couldn't do justice to.  This is the deepest canyon (164 ft.) in Jasper National Park.

We toured the Jasper National Park and stopped at the beautiful Maligne Lake.

The trip between Jasper and Banff was filled with close-up views of the lakes and mountains that fill this landscape.  We stopped at Peyto Lake to see this turquoise colored lake.  (The color comes from the silt produced from the melting glacier.)  Then we moved on to Bow Lake and the Bow Glacier.  The first photo is borrowed from a web site, but mine aren't so bad.
