On April 26, 2003, our daughter, Gina, and her husband, Dewite North, became parents.  That means that Nancy and became -- GRANDPARENTS for the first time!  This section of the web site will be reserved for sharing news, photographs, special moments and other items of note that relate to our first grandchild.

The first bit of news is that IT'S A BOY!  He entered the world at 7:49 p.m. on a Saturday night, a couple of days ahead of schedule.  He weighed in at 7 lbs, 5 oz and was 20.25" long.  Year one and two went by very fast, and he will be 3 years old very soon! Below are some of our favorite pictures, past and present.

Christmas 2004

Christmas at the North house (that's in Virginia, not the Pole) was lots of fun this year.  Christian was 20 months old, but he handled it like a pro.  He wasn't too crazy about sitting in Santa's lap, but the lights, colorful presents and especially the toys, got his attention.  There are some photo highlights on this page, and short videos on another page.  To watch the videos, click here; to see the photos, simply scroll down.

NOTE: PLEASE BE PATIENT, THE VIDEOS MAY TAKE A LONG TIME TO DOWNLOAD EVEN WITH HIGH SPEED CONNECTIONS

 Birth of a grandson!!

During the first four weeks of Christian's life, he was surrounded by lots of loving relatives, including George (Papa) and Nancy (Grammy), who camped out at Gina and Dewite's house until May 24 and helped out with the night feedings and an occasional (?) diaper change.  Everyone had at least one camera, so there were lots of pictures to choose from for this page.  Here are some of the best (click on any thumbnail photo to see a larger image).

Before long, Christian and his Dad will be taking to the links for a round of golf.  As you can see from the picture below, he already has the clothes (OK, so the golf shoes are a bit large) and the right attitude.

"Did you see that putt?  I missed a birdie by this much!"

 Getting Ready

Preparing for the baby's arrival included a total makeover of bedroom number three at Gina and Dewite's house into a

On March 9, 2003, "Aunt" Kara put on a shower for the expectant Mom.  "Grandma" Nancy made the trip from Nevada and lots of nice folks brought lots of great gifts.  Looks like there was plenty of food too!

This is really cool!!
