Alice Springs
Alice Springs is the second largest town in the Northern Territory of Australia
and sits at the geographical center of the continent. It is mostly
comprised of cavernous gorges, boundless desert landscapes and remote Aboriginal
communities. It embodies the hardy
outback of the Northern Territory's
Red Centre,
has a charming pioneering history and is a travel hub for sights and hikes in
the region. The population of Alice Springs
is less than 28,000. It's a dry and dusty desert region with a climate similar
to Las Vegas, but while surface water is a scarce commodity in the region,
there's plenty underground. Our hotel in Alice Springs was the
Crowne Plaza and we had great views of the MacDonnell Mountain Ranges
as we prepared for our trip to Ayers Rock (Uluru) and Kata Tjuta.
